Part seven               THE BOOK OF REVELATION

Addendum “B”

-THE recapitulation of the book of Revelation-

There are three primary recapitulations to be observed: Rev.8:5; Rev.11:19; and Rev.16:18 and 21.  These passages describe the following symbols: voices, thunderings, lightnings, and a great earthquake.  All of which are pointing forward to the Day of Lord: Which has a protracted time period. Then Rev.4:5 /Ex.19:16 define the voices, lightnings, and thunderings as the manifestations of God’s presence.

We would also understand that the seventh seal contains the seven trumpets; and the seventh trumpet contains the seven bowls; and that the seventh bowl contains all of God’s judgments and wrath.  All of which is to be poured out upon this sad world.

We might draw the following conclusions:

1. Rev.6:12-7:17 are explanatory comments for Rev.8:5.  The great day of his wrath is come.

2. Rev.9:13-11:13 are explanatory comments for Rev.11:19.  The hour of His judgment has come.

3. Rev.13:11-19:21 are explanatory comments for Rev.16:18 and 21  In one hour your judgment has come.

Then it would also seem that these recapitulations are progressive in their ordered content.  Though they all have the Day of the Lord in common, each of these described segments has its own unique character.

Rev.6:12-7:17 is explaining the sealing and the gathering of the priests from this dispensation of grace.

Rev.9:13-11:13 is explaining the simultaneous activity of the tribulations and of salvation.

Rev.13:11-19:21 is explaining the culmination of the last things: Ending at the battle of Armageddon and then the final judgment.

Chapters one-verse one through chapter six-verse eleven of Revelation, gives us the details for the institution of this dispensation of grace; this year of Jehovah’s favor.  These symbols show us, in the clearest terms, the progressive activities of salvation and tribulations throughout this entire time period.

The chronology of the book of Revelation may best be ascertained when viewed from the perspective of the year of Jehovah’s favor in contrast to the day of the Lord.

First, define time, times, and a half time [3 1/2 times]; one thousand, two hundred, and three score days [1260 days]; forty and two months [42 months]; then three and one half years—as the time of surrendered power:

Dan.12:7 sights this as the time of the scattering of the power of the holy people.

Dan.12:11 says that it may be during this time that the abomination of desolation is set up.

Rev.11:2 states that the holy city is trod under foot during this time.

Rev.11:3 shows us the two witnesses clothed in sackcloth.  And in

Rev.12:6 and 14, we are told that the woman is hid throughout this time.

Second, define the wilderness as a theoretical place; or the world:

Rev.12:6 and 14, the wilderness is where the woman was protected from the face of the serpent.

Rev.17:3 tells us that it was in the wilderness that John had his vision of the scarlet beast and the harlot.

Mat.4:1; Mk.1:13; and Lu.4:1 all tell us that Jesus was in the wilderness when he was tempted by the devil.

Ezek.20:35 shows us a wilderness of peoples.

I    To begin this chapter, we first see

I  the Lamb of God in Heaven.  We then

I  see the gathered multitude of God’s

I  priests also present in Heaven.  The

I  rapture is complete, and the day of

I  Lord is about to commence.

I  This chapter also gives us insight

I  into the harvest, which is the

I  evidence of the end of the world.

                                                   I

                                                   I

                                                   I  Rev.15:1——————————————8

                                                   I    This chapter is another

I  recapitulation of the gathering of

                                                   I  Christ’s invisible priesthood.

I  We then have the announcement of

I  the seven last plagues of God.  These

I  plagues are to be poured out during

I  the protracted day of the Lord.

                                                   I

                                                   I

                                                   I  Rev.16:1—————————————-11

I    As we observe the pouring out of

I  these first five bowls, we see many

I  similarities with the trumpets.  Each

I  of these symbols has an affect upon

I  the same part or element.

                                                   I   1. The earth.

                                                   I   2. The sea.

I   3. The rivers and fountains.

                                                   I   4. The sun.

                                                   I   5. Darkness.

I  The primary difference that can be

I  noticed, is that the trumpets had

I  only a partial result, while the

I  bowls have had a more complete

I  result with their intended judgment.

                                                   I

                                                   I

                                                   I  Rev.16:12—————————————21

I    As we saw in the pictures of the

I  sixth seal and the sixth trumpet—

I  where a major change occurred at the

I  time of each of these events, we see

I  the same thing happening when the

I  sixth bowl is poured out.  Verse

I  thirteen reveals the presence of the

I  dragon, the beast, and the false

I  prophet: Indicating the release of

I  Satan before this time frame.

                                                   I

The Dragon is Satan: More than ten reference passages in the book of Revelation are made concerning this symbolic dragon’s role in God’s reconciliation.  We then see that Rev.12:9 and Rev.20:2 clearly define the dragon as Satan and the devil.  Now if all of these additional reference passages concerning the dragon: Rev.12:3; 12:4; 12:7; 12:13; 12:16; 12:17; 13:2; 13:4; and 13:11 refer directly to Satan, then logic would demand that the dragon of Rev.16:13 also refer to Satan.

                                    I

I  All of this is in preparation for

I  the battle of Armageddon.  With

I  the pouring out of the seventh bowl,

I  this statement is made “It is done!”

I  This is surely the consummation of

I  all things.  We are again given this

I  indicator  “there was a great

                                                   I  earthquake”.

                                                   I

                                                   I

                                                   I  Rev.17:1————————————18:24

                                                   I    These passages define the

I  abomination, and then announces the

I  hour of God’s judgment.  The woman,

I  beast, and waters are identified.

                                                   I  Rev.18:4 also pictures a rapture /or

I  gathering of the peoples of God.

                                                   I

                                                   I  Rev.19:1—————————————-21

I    The first half of this chapter is

                                                   I  an additional recapitulation that

                                                   I  shows the gathered priesthood

I  collectively present in the heavens.

I  They are the bride of Christ,

I  and they were brought here for their

I  marriage to the Lamb. This occurs at

I  the very beginning of the protracted

                                                   I  day of the Lord.

I    The second half of this

                                                   I  chapter occurs toward the

I  end of the day of the Lord.  The

                                                   I  resurrected priests will accompany

I  their Lord into this battle of
