Psalm 1

¹Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stands in the way of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of scoffers: ²But his delight is in the law of Jehovah; And on his law does he meditate day and night. ³And he shall be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also does not wither; And whatsoever he does shall prosper.

⁴The wicked are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. ⁵Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. ⁶For Jehovah knows the way of the righteous; But the way of the wicked shall perish.

Psalm 2

¹Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing? ²The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying, ³Let us break their bonds in pieces, And cast away their cords from us. ⁴He that sits in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in shame. ⁵Then will he speak unto them in his wrath, And vex them in his great displeasure: ⁶yet I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion.

⁷I will tell of the decree: Jehovah said unto me, you are my son; This day have I begotten you. ⁸Ask of me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession. ⁹You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

¹⁰Now therefore be wise, O you kings: Be instructed, you judges of the earth. ¹¹Serve Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling. ¹²Kiss the son, unless he be angry, and you perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that take refuge in him.

Psalm 3

¹Jehovah, how my adversaries are increased! Many are they that rise up against me. ²Many there are that say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah ³But you, O Jehovah, are a shield about me; My glory and the lifter up of my head.

⁴I cry unto Jehovah with my voice, And he answered me out of his holy hill. Selah ⁵I laid down and slept; I awoke; For Jehovah sustains me. ⁶I will not be afraid of ten thousands of the people That have set themselves against me round about. ⁷Arise, O Jehovah; Save me, O my God: For you have crushed all my enemies upon the cheek bone; You have broken the teeth of the wicked. ⁸Salvation belongs unto Jehovah: your blessing be upon your people. Selah

Psalm 4

¹Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness; you have set me at large when I was in distress: Have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. ²O you sons of men, how long shall my glory be turned into dishonor? How long will you love vanity, and seek after falsehood? Selah ³But know that Jehovah has set apart for himself him that is godly: Jehovah will hear when I call unto him. ⁴Stand in awe, and sin not: Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah ⁵Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in Jehovah.

⁶Many there are that say, Who will show us any good? Jehovah, lift up the light of your countenance upon us. ⁷You have put gladness in my heart, More than they have when their grain and their new wine is increased. ⁸In peace will I both lay me down and sleep; For you, Jehovah, alone makes me dwell in safety.

Psalm 5

¹Give ear to my words, O Jehovah, Consider my meditation. ²listen unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God; For unto you do I pray. ³O Jehovah, in the morning you shall hear my voice; In the morning will I order my prayer unto you, and will keep watch. ⁴For you are not a God that has pleasure in wickedness: Evil shall not sojourn with you. ⁵The arrogant shall not stand in your sight: You hate all workers of iniquity. ⁶You will destroy them that speak lies: Jehovah abhors the blood-thirsty and deceitful man.

⁷But as for me, in the abundance of your lovingkindness will I come into your house: In your fear will I worship toward your holy temple. ⁸Lead me, O Jehovah, in your righteousness because of my enemies; Make your way straight before my face. ⁹For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; Their inward part is every wickedness; Their throat is an open sepulchre; They flatter with their tongue. ¹⁰Hold them guilty, O God; Let them fall by their own counsels; Thrust them out in the multitude of their transgressions; For they have rebelled against you. ¹¹But let all those that take refuge in you rejoice, Let them ever shout for joy, because you defend them: Let them also that love your name be joyful in you. ¹²For you will bless the righteous; O Jehovah, you will compass him with favor as with a shield.

Psalm 6

¹O Jehovah, rebuke me not in your anger, Neither chasten me in your hot displeasure. ²Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah; for I am withered away: O Jehovah, heal me; for my bones are troubled. ³My soul also is greatly troubled: And you, O Jehovah, how long? ⁴Return, O Jehovah, deliver my soul: Save me for your lovingkindness’ sake. ⁵For in death there is no remembrance of you: In Sheol who shall give you thanks? ⁶I am weary with my groaning; Every night I make my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. ⁷My eye waste away because of grief; It waxes old because of all my adversaries.

⁸Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; For Jehovah has heard the voice of my weeping. ⁹Jehovah has heard my supplication; Jehovah will receive my prayer. ¹⁰All my enemies shall be put to shame and greatly troubled: They shall turn back, they shall be put to shame suddenly.

Psalm 7

¹O Jehovah my God, in you do I take refuge: Save me from all them that pursue me, and deliver me, ²Unless they tear my soul like a lion, Rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver. ³O Jehovah my God, if I have done this; If there be iniquity in my hands; ⁴If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yes, I have delivered him that without cause was my adversary;) ⁵Let the enemy pursue my soul, and overtake it; yes, let him tread my life down to the earth, And lay my glory in the dust. Selah ⁶Arise, O Jehovah, in your anger; Lift up yourself against the rage of my adversaries, And awake for me; you have commanded judgment. ⁷And let the congregation of the peoples compass you about; And over them return you on high. ⁸Jehovah minister judgment to the peoples: Judge me, O Jehovah, according to my righteousness, and to my integrity that is in me. ⁹O let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but you establish the righteous: For the righteous God tries the minds and hearts.

¹⁰My shield is with God, Who saves the upright in heart. ¹¹God is a righteous judge, yes, a God that has indignation every day. ¹²If a man turn not, he will sharpen his sword; He has bent his bow, and made it ready. ¹³He has also prepared for him the instruments of death; He makes his arrows fiery shafts. ¹⁴Behold, he travails with iniquity; yes, he has conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood. ¹⁵He has made a pit, and dug it, And is fallen into the ditch which he made. ¹⁶His mischief shall return upon his own head, And his violence shall come down upon his own head. ¹⁷I will give thanks unto Jehovah according to his righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of Jehovah Most High.

Psalm 8

¹O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is your name in all the earth, Who has set your glory upon the heavens! ²Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings you have established strength, Because of your adversaries, That you might still the enemy and the avenger.

³When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, The moon and the stars, which you have ordained; ⁴What is man, that you are mindful of him? And the son of man, that you visit him? ⁵For you have made him but little lower than God, And crowned him with glory and honor. ⁶You made him to have dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet: ⁷All sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field, ⁸The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, Whatsoever passes through the paths of the seas. ⁹O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is your name in all the earth!

Psalm 9

¹I will give thanks unto Jehovah with my whole heart; I will show forth all your marvelous works. ²I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O you Most High. ³When my enemies turn back, They stumble and perish at your presence. ⁴For you have maintained my right and my cause; you sit in the throne judging righteously. ⁵you has rebuked the nations, you have destroyed the wicked; you have blotted out their name for ever and ever. ⁶The enemy are come to an end, they are desolate for ever; And the cities which you have overthrown, The very remembrance of them is perished. ⁷But Jehovah sits as king for ever: He has prepared his throne for judgment; ⁸And he will judge the world in righteousness, He will minister judgment to the peoples in uprightness. ⁹Jehovah also will be a high tower for the oppressed, A high tower in times of trouble; ¹⁰And they that know your name will put their trust in you; For you, Jehovah, have not forsaken them that seek you.

¹¹Sing praises to Jehovah, who dwells in Zion: Declare among the people his doings. ¹²For he that makes inquisition for blood remembers them; He forgets not the cry of the poor. ¹³Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah; Behold my affliction which I suffer of them that hate me, you that lifts me up from the gates of death; ¹⁴That I may show forth all your praise. In the gates of the daughter of Zion I will rejoice in your salvation. ¹⁵The nations are sunk down in the pit that they made: In the net which they hid is their own foot taken. ¹⁶Jehovah has made himself known, he has executed judgment: The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah ¹⁷The wicked shall be turned back unto Sheol, Even all the nations that forget God. ¹⁸For the needy shall not alway be forgotten, Nor the expectation of the poor perish for ever. ¹⁹Arise, O Jehovah; Let not man prevail: Let the nations be judged in your sight. ²⁰Put them in fear, O Jehovah: Let the nations know themselves to be but men. Selah

Psalm 10

¹Why stand you afar off, O Jehovah? Why hide you yourself in times of trouble? ²In the pride of the wicked the poor is hotly pursued; Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived. ³For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire, And the covetous renounces, yes, despises Jehovah. ⁴The wicked, in the pride of his countenance, says, He will not require it. All his thoughts are, There is no God. ⁵His ways are firm at all times; your judgments are far above out of his sight: As for all his adversaries, he scoffs at them. ⁶He says in his heart, I shall not be moved; To all generations I shall not be in adversity. ⁷His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression: Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity. ⁸He sits in the lurking-places of the villages; In the secret places does he murder the innocent; His eyes are secretly set against the helpless. ⁹He lurks in secret as a lion in his covert; He lies in wait to catch the poor: He does catch the poor, when he draws him in his net. ¹⁰He crouches, he bows down, And the helpless fall by his strong ones. ¹¹He says in his heart, God has forgotten; He hides his face; he will never see it.

¹²Arise, O Jehovah; O God, lift up your hand: Forget not the poor. ¹³why does the wicked contemn God, And says in his heart, you will not require it? ¹⁴You has seen it; for you behold mischief and spite, to requite it with your hand: The helpless commits himself unto you; you have been the helper of the fatherless. ¹⁵Break the arm of the wicked; And as for the evil man, seek out his wickedness till you find none. ¹⁶Jehovah is King for ever and ever: The nations are perished out of his land. ¹⁷Jehovah, you have heard the desire of the meek: you will prepare their heart, you will cause your ear to hear; ¹⁸To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, That man who is of the earth may be terrible no more.

Psalm 11

¹In Jehovah do I take refuge: How say you to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain; ²For, lo, the wicked bend the bow, They make ready their arrow upon the string, That they may shoot in darkness at the upright in heart; ³If the foundations be destroyed, What can the righteous do?

⁴Jehovah is in his holy temple; Jehovah, his throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. ⁵Jehovah tries the righteous; But the wicked and him that loves violence his soul hates. ⁶Upon the wicked he will rain snares; Fire and brimstone and burning wind shall be the portion of their cup. ⁷For Jehovah is righteous; He loves righteousness: The upright shall behold his face.

Psalm 12

¹Help, Jehovah; For the godly man cease; For the faithful fail from among the children of men. ²They speak falsehood every one with his neighbor: With flattering lip, and with a double heart, do they speak. ³Jehovah will cut off all flattering lips, The tongue that speaks great things; ⁴Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; Our lips are our own: Who is lord over us? ⁵Because of the oppression of the poor, because of the sighing of the needy, Now will I arise, says Jehovah; I will set him in the safety he pants for. ⁶The words of Jehovah are pure words; As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, Purified seven times. ⁷you will keep them, O Jehovah, you will preserve them from this generation for ever. ⁸The wicked walk on every side, When vileness is exalted among the sons of men.

Psalm 13

¹How long, O Jehovah? will you forget me for ever? How long will you hide your face from me? ²How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? ³Consider and answer me, O Jehovah my God: Lighten my eyes, unless I sleep the sleep of death; ⁴Lest my enemy say, I have prevailed against him; unless my adversaries rejoice when I am moved. ⁵But I have trusted in your lovingkindness; My heart shall rejoice in your salvation. ⁶I will sing unto Jehovah, Because he has dealt bountifully with me.

Psalm 14

¹The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works; There is none that does good. ²Jehovah looked down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there were any that did understand, That did seek after God. ³They are all gone aside; They are together become filthy; There is none that does good, no, not one.

⁴Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And call not upon Jehovah? ⁵There were they in great fear; For God is in the generation of the righteous. ⁶You put to shame the counsel of the poor, Because Jehovah is his refuge. ⁷Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When Jehovah brings back the captivity of his people, Then shall Jacob rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Psalm 15

¹Jehovah, who shall sojourn in your tabernacle? Who shall dwell in your holy hill? ²He that walks uprightly, and works righteousness, And speaks truth in his heart; ³He that slanders not with his tongue, Nor does evil to his friend, Nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor; ⁴In whose eyes a reprobate is despised, But who honors them that fear Jehovah; He that swears to his own hurt, and changes not; ⁵He that puts not out his money to interest, Nor takes reward against the innocent. He that does these things shall never be moved.

Psalm 16

¹Preserve me, O God; For in you do I take refuge. ²O my soul, you have said unto Jehovah, you are my Lord: I have no good beyond you. ³As for the saints that are in the earth, They are the excellent in whom is all my delight. ⁴Their sorrows shall be multiplied that give gifts for another god: Their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, Nor take their names upon my lips. ⁵Jehovah is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup: you maintain my lot. ⁶The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yes, I have a goodly heritage. ⁷I will bless Jehovah, who has given me counsel; yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.

⁸I have set Jehovah always before me: Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. ⁹Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also shall dwell in safety. ¹⁰For you will not leave my soul to Sheol; Neither will you suffer your holy one to see corruption. ¹¹You will show me the path of life: In your presence is fulness of joy; In your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Psalm 17

¹Hear the right, O Jehovah, attend unto my cry; Give ear unto my prayer, that go not out of feigned lips. ²Let my sentence come forth from your presence; Let your eyes look upon equity. ³you has proved my heart; you have visited me in the night; you have tried me, and found nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. ⁴As for the works of men, by the word of your lips I have kept me from the ways of the violent. ⁵My steps have held fast to your paths, My feet have not slipped. ⁶I have called upon you, for you will answer me, O God: Incline your ear unto me, and hear my speech. ⁷Show your marvelous lovingkindness, O you that saved by your right hand them that take refuge in you From those that rise up against them.

⁸Keep me as the apple of the eye; Hide me under the shadow of your wings, ⁹From the wicked that oppress me, My deadly enemies, that compass me about. ¹⁰They are enclosed in their own fat: With their mouth they speak proudly. ¹¹They have now compassed us in our steps; They set their eyes to cast us down to the earth. ¹²He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey, And as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. ¹³Arise, O Jehovah, Confront him, cast him down: Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword; ¹⁴From men by your hand, O Jehovah, From men of the world, whose portion is in this life, And whose belly you fill with your treasure: They are satisfied with children, And leave the rest of their substance to their babes. ¹⁵As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with beholding your form.

Psalm 18

¹I love you, O Jehovah, my strength. ²Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower. ³I will call upon Jehovah, who is worthy to be praised: So shall I be saved from my enemies. ⁴The cords of death compassed me, And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid. ⁵The cords of Sheol were round about me; The snares of death came upon me. ⁶In my distress I called upon Jehovah, And cried unto my God: He heard my voice out of his temple, And my cry before him came into his ears. ⁷Then the earth shook and trembled; The foundations also of the mountains quaked And were shaken, because he was angry. ⁸There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, And fire out of his mouth devoured: Coals were kindled by it. ⁹He bowed the heavens also, and came down; And thick darkness was under his feet. ¹⁰And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly; yes, he soared upon the wings of the wind. ¹¹He made darkness his hiding-place, his pavilion round about him, Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies. ¹²At the brightness before him his thick clouds passed, Hailstones and coals of fire. ¹³Jehovah also thundered in the heavens, And the Most High uttered his voice, Hailstones and coals of fire. ¹⁴And he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; yes, lightnings manifold, and confounded them. ¹⁵Then the channels of waters appeared, And the foundations of the world were laid bare, At your rebuke, O Jehovah, At the blast of the breath of your nostrils. ¹⁶He sent from on high, he took me; He drew me out of many waters. ¹⁷He delivered me from my strong enemy, And from them that hated me; For they were too mighty for me. ¹⁸They came upon me in the day of my calamity; But Jehovah was my stay. ¹⁹He brought me forth also into a large place; He delivered me, because he delighted in me.

²⁰Jehovah has rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands has he recompensed me. ²¹For I have kept the ways of Jehovah, And have not wickedly departed from my God. ²²For all his ordinances were before me, And I put not away his statutes from me. ²³I was also perfect with him, And I kept myself from my iniquity. ²⁴Therefore has Jehovah recompensed me according to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. ²⁵With the merciful you will show yourself merciful; With the perfect man you will show yourself perfect; ²⁶With the pure you will show yourself pure; And with the perverse you will show yourself defiant. ²⁷For you will save the afflicted people; But the haughty eyes you will bring down. ²⁸For you will light my lamp: Jehovah my God will lighten my darkness.

²⁹For by you I run upon a troop; And by my God do I leap over a wall. ³⁰As for God, his way is perfect: The word of Jehovah is tried; He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in him. ³¹For who is God, save Jehovah? And who is a rock, besides our God, ³²The God that girds me with strength, And makes my way perfect? ³³He makes my feet like hinds’ feet: And sets me upon my high places. ³⁴He teaches my hands to war; So that my arms do bend a bow of brass. ³⁵You have also given me the shield of your salvation; And your right hand has held me up, And your gentleness has made me great. ³⁶You have enlarged my steps under me, And my feet have not slipped. ³⁷I will pursue my enemies, and overtake them; Neither will I turn again till they are consumed. ³⁸I will strike them through, so that they shall not be able to rise: They shall fall under my feet. ³⁹For you have girded me with strength unto the battle: you have subdued under me those that rose up against me. ⁴⁰You have also made my enemies turn their backs unto me, That I might cut off them that hate me. ⁴¹They cried, but there was none to save; Even unto Jehovah, but he answered them not. ⁴²Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind; I did cast them out as the mire of the streets. ⁴³You have delivered me from the strivings of the people; you have made me the head of the nations: A people whom I have not known shall serve me. ⁴⁴As soon as they hear of me they shall obey me; The foreigners shall submit themselves unto me. ⁴⁵The foreigners shall fade away, And shall come trembling out of their close places. ⁴⁶Jehovah lives; And blessed be my rock; And exalted be the God of my salvation, ⁴⁷Even the God that executes vengeance for me, And subdues peoples under me. ⁴⁸He rescues me from my enemies; yes, you lift me up above them that rise up against me; you deliver me from the violent man. ⁴⁹Therefore I will give thanks unto you, O Jehovah, among the nations, And will sing praises unto your name. ⁵⁰Great deliverance he gives to his king, And shows lovingkindness to his anointed, To David and to his seed, for evermore.

Psalm 19

¹The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows his handiwork. ²Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night shows knowledge. ³There is no speech nor language; Their voice is not heard. ⁴Their line is gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them has he set a tabernacle for the sun, ⁵Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices as a strong man to run his course. ⁶His going forth is from the end of the heavens, And his circuit unto the ends of it; And there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

⁷The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul: The testimony of Jehovah is sure, making wise the simple. ⁸The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart: The commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes. ⁹The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring for ever: The ordinances of Jehovah are true, and righteous altogether. ¹⁰More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the droppings of the honeycomb. ¹¹Moreover by them is your servant warned: In keeping them there is great reward. ¹²Who can discern his errors? Clear me from hidden faults. ¹³Keepback  your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me: Then shall I be upright, And I shall be clear from great transgression. ¹⁴Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in your sight, O Jehovah, my rock, and my redeemer.

Psalm 20

¹Jehovah answer you in the day of trouble; The name of the God of Jacob set you up on high; ²You send help from the sanctuary, And you strengthen out of Zion; ³Remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt-sacrifice; Selah ⁴You grant your heart’s desire, And fulfil all your counsel. ⁵We will triumph in your salvation, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners: Jehovah fulfil all your petitions.

⁶Now know I that Jehovah saves his anointed; He will answer him from his holy heaven With the saving strength of his right hand. ⁷Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will make mention of the name of Jehovah our God. ⁸They are bowed down and fallen; But we are risen, and stand upright. ⁹Save, Jehovah: Let the King answer us when we call.

Psalm 21

¹The king shall joy in your strength, O Jehovah; And in your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! ²you has given him his heart’s desire, And have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah ³For you met him with the blessings of goodness: you set a crown of fine gold on his head. ⁴He asked life of you, you gave it him, Even length of days for ever and ever. ⁵His glory is great in your salvation: honor and majesty you have laid upon him. ⁶For you made him most blessed for ever: you made him glad with joy in your presence.

⁷For the king trusts in Jehovah; And through the lovingkindness of the Most High he shall not be moved. ⁸Your hand will find out all your enemies; your right hand will find out those that hate you. ⁹you will make them as a fiery furnace in the time of your anger: Jehovah will swallow them up in his wrath, And the fire shall devour them. ¹⁰Their fruit will you destroy from the earth, And their seed from among the children of men. ¹¹For they intended evil against you; They conceived a device which they are not able to perform. ¹²For you will make them turn their back; you will make ready with your bowstrings against their face. ¹³You be exalted, O Jehovah, in your strength: So will we sing and praise your power.

Psalm 22

¹My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning? ²O my God, I cry in the daytime, but you answer not; And in the night season, I am not silent. ³But you are holy, O you that inhabit the praises of Israel. ⁴Our fathers trusted in you: They trusted, and you did deliver them. ⁵They cried unto you, and were delivered: They trusted in you, and were not put to shame. ⁶But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised of the people. ⁷All they that see me laugh me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, ⁸Commit yourself unto Jehovah; Let him deliver him: Let him rescue him, seeing he delights in him. ⁹But you are he that took me out of the womb; you did make me trust when I was upon my mother’s breasts. ¹⁰I was cast upon you from the womb; you are my God since my mother bare me.

¹¹Be not far from me; For trouble is near; For there is none to help. ¹²Many bulls have surrounded me; Strong bulls of Ba-shan have circled round me. ¹³They come upon me with their open mouth, As a ravening and a roaring lion. ¹⁴I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint: My heart is like wax; It is melted within me. ¹⁵My strength is dried up like a potsherd; And my tongue clings to my jaws; And you have brought me into the dust of death. ¹⁶For dogs have compassed me: A company of evil-doers have inclosed me; They pierced my hands and my feet. ¹⁷I may count all my bones; They look and stare upon me. ¹⁸They part my garments among them, And upon my vesture do they cast lots. ¹⁹But be not far off, O Jehovah: O you my succor, you hurry to help me. ²⁰Deliver my soul from the sword, My darling from the power of the dog. ²¹Save me from the lion’s mouth; yes, from the horns of the wild-oxen you have answered me.

²²I will declare your name unto my brethren: In the midst of the assembly will I praise you. ²³You that fear Jehovah, praise him; All you the seed of Jacob, glorify him; And stand in awe of him, all you the seed of Israel. ²⁴For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Neither has he hid his face from him; But when he cried unto him, he heard. ²⁵Of you comes my praise in the great assembly: I will pay my vows before them that fear him. ²⁶The meek shall eat and be satisfied; They shall praise Jehovah that seek after him: Let your heart live for ever. ²⁷All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn unto Jehovah; And all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before you. ²⁸For the kingdom is Jehovah’s; And he is the ruler over the nations. ²⁹All the fat ones of the earth shall eat and worship: All they that go down to the dust shall bow before him, Even he that cannot keep his soul alive. ³⁰A seed shall serve him; It shall be told of the Lord unto the next generation. ³¹They shall come and shall declare his righteousness Unto a people that shall be born, that he has done it.

Psalm 23

¹Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want. ²He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. ³He restores my soul: He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. ⁴Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. ⁵You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies: you have anointed my head with oil; My cup runs over. ⁶Surely goodness and lovingkindness shall follow me all the days of my life; And I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah for ever.

Psalm 24

¹The earth is Jehovah’s, and the fulness thereof; The world, and they that dwell therein. ²For he has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the floods.

³Who shall ascend into the hill of Jehovah? And who shall stand in his holy place? ⁴He that has clean hands, and a pure heart; Who have not lifted up his soul unto falsehood, And have not sworn deceitfully. ⁵He shall receive a blessing from Jehovah, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. ⁶This is the generation of them that seek after him, That seek your face, even Jacob. ⁷Lift up your heads, O you gates; And be you lifted up, you everlasting doors: And the King of glory will come in. ⁸Who is the King of glory? Psalm 25

¹Unto you, O Jehovah, do I lift up my soul. ²O my God, in you have I trusted, Let me not be put to shame; Let not my enemies triumph over me. ³yous, none that wait for you shall be put to shame: They shall be put to shame that deal treacherously without cause. ⁴Show me your ways, O Jehovah; Teach me your paths. ⁵Guide me in your truth, and teach me; For you are the God of my salvation; For you do I wait all the day. ⁶Remember, O Jehovah, your tender mercies and your lovingkindness; For they have been ever of old. ⁷Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: According to your lovingkindness remember me, For your goodness’ sake, O Jehovah.

⁸Good and upright is Jehovah: Therefore will he instruct sinners in the way. ⁹The meek will he guide in justice; And the meek will he teach his way. ¹⁰All the paths of Jehovah are lovingkindness and truth Unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. ¹¹For your name’s sake, O Jehovah, Pardon my iniquity, for it is great. ¹²What man is he that fears Jehovah? Him shall he instruct in the way that he shall choose. ¹³His soul shall dwell at ease; And his seed shall inherit the land. ¹⁴The friendship of Jehovah is with them that fear him; And he will show them his covenant.

¹⁵My eyes are ever toward Jehovah; For he will pluck my feet out of the net. ¹⁶Turn your face unto me, and have mercy upon me; For I am desolate and afflicted. ¹⁷The troubles of my heart are enlarged: Oh bring me out of my distresses. ¹⁸Consider my affliction and my travail; And forgive all my sins. ¹⁹Consider my enemies, for they are many; And they hate me with cruel hatred. ²⁰Oh keep my soul, and deliver me: Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. ²¹Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, For I wait for you. ²²Redeem Israel, O God, Out all of his troubles.

Psalm 26

¹Judge me, O Jehovah, for I have walked in my integrity: I have trusted also in Jehovah without wavering. ²Examine me, O Jehovah, and prove me; Try my heart and my mind. ³For your lovingkindness is before my eyes; And I have walked in your truth. ⁴I have not sat with men of falsehood; Neither will I go in with dissemblers. ⁵I hate the assembly of evil-doers, And will not sit with the wicked.

⁶I will wash my hands in innocence: So will I compass your altar, O Jehovah; ⁷That I may make the voice of thanksgiving to be heard, And tell of all your wondrous works. ⁸Jehovah, I love the habitation of your house, And the place where your glory dwells. ⁹Gather not my soul with sinners, Nor my life with men of blood; ¹⁰In whose hands is wickedness, And their right hand is full of bribes. ¹¹But as for me, I will walk in my integrity: Redeem me, and be merciful unto me. ¹²My foot stands in an even place: In the congregations will I bless Jehovah.

Psalm 27

¹Jehovah is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? ²When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh, Even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell. ³Though a host should camp against me, My heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, Even then will I be confident. ⁴One thing have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after; That I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of Jehovah, And to inquire in his temple. ⁵For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion: In the covert of his tabernacle will he hide me; He will lift me up upon a rock. ⁶And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me. And I will offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises unto Jehovah.

⁷Hear, O Jehovah, when I cry with my voice: Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. ⁸When you said, Seek my face; My heart said unto you, your face, Jehovah, will I seek. ⁹Hide not your face from me; Put not your servant away in anger: you have been my help; Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. ¹⁰When my father and my mother forsake me, Then Jehovah will take me up. ¹¹Teach me your way, O Jehovah; And lead me in a plain path, Because of my enemies. ¹²Deliver me not over unto the will of my adversaries: For false witnesses are risen up against me, And such as breathe out cruelty. ¹³I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah In the land of the living. ¹⁴Wait for Jehovah: Be strong, And let your heart take courage; yes, wait for Jehovah.

Psalm 28

¹Unto you, O Jehovah, will I call: My rock, be not deaf unto me; unless, if you be silent unto me, I become like them that go down into the pit. ²Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto you, When I lift up my hands toward your holy oracle. ³Draw me not away with the wicked, And with the workers of iniquity; That speak peace with their neighbors, But mischief is in their hearts. ⁴Give them according to their work, and according to the wickedness of their doings: Give them after the operation of their hands; Render to them their desert. ⁵Because they regard not the works of Jehovah, Nor the operation of his hands, He will break them down and not build them up.

⁶Blessed be Jehovah, Because he has heard the voice of my supplications. ⁷Jehovah is my strength and my shield; My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped: Therefore my heart greatly rejoices; And with my song will I praise him. ⁸Jehovah is their strength, And he is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed. ⁹Save your people, and bless your inheritance: Be their shepherd also, and bear them up for ever.

Psalm 29

¹Ascribe unto Jehovah, O you sons of the mighty, Ascribe unto Jehovah glory and strength. ²Ascribe unto Jehovah the glory due unto his name; Worship Jehovah in holy array. ³The voice of Jehovah is upon the waters: The God of glory thunders, Even Jehovah upon many waters. ⁴The voice of Jehovah is powerful; The voice of Jehovah is full of majesty. ⁵The voice of Jehovah breaks the cedars; yes, Jehovah breaks in pieces the cedars of Leb-a-non. ⁶He makes them also to skip like a calf; Leb-a-non and Sirion like a young wild-ox. ⁷The voice of Jehovah clings the flames of fire. ⁸The voice of Jehovah shakes the wilderness; Jehovah shakes the wilderness of Ka-desh. ⁹The voice of Jehovah makes the hinds to calve, And stripes the forests bare: And in his temple everything says, Glory. ¹⁰Jehovah sat as King at the Flood; yes, Jehovah sits as King for ever. ¹¹Jehovah will give strength unto his people; Jehovah will bless his people with peace.

Psalm 30

¹I will extol you, O Jehovah; For you have raised me up, And have not made my foes to rejoice over me. ²O Jehovah my God, I cried unto you, and you have healed me. ³O Jehovah, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; you have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. ⁴Sing praise unto Jehovah, O you saints of his, And give thanks to his holy memorial name. ⁵For his anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a life-time: Weeping may tarry for the night, But joy comes in the morning.

⁶As for me, I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved. ⁷you, Jehovah, of your favor you have made my mountain to stand strong: you did hide your face; I was troubled. ⁸I cried to you, O Jehovah; And unto Jehovah I made supplication: ⁹What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise you? shall it declare your truth? ¹⁰Hear, O Jehovah, and have mercy upon me: Jehovah, you be my helper. ¹¹you has turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; ¹²To the end that my glory may sing praise to you, and not be silent. O Jehovah my God, I will give thanks unto you for ever.

Psalm 31

¹In you, O Jehovah, do I take refuge; Let me never be put to shame: Deliver me in your righteousness. ²Bow down your ear unto me; Deliver me speedily: Be to me a strong rock, A house of defense to save me. ³For you are my rock and my fortress; Therefore for your name’s sake lead me and guide me. ⁴Pluck me out of the net that they have laid secretly for me; For you are my stronghold. ⁵Into your hand I commend my spirit: you have redeemed me, O Jehovah, the God of truth. ⁶I hate them that regard lying vanities; But I trust in Jehovah. ⁷I will be glad and rejoice in your lovingkindness; For you have seen my affliction: you have known my soul in adversities; ⁸And you have not shut me up into the hand of the enemy; you have set my feet in a large place.

⁹Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah, for I am in distress: my eye waste away with grief, yes, my soul and my body. ¹⁰For my life is spent with sorrow, And my years with sighing: My strength fails because of my iniquity, And my bones are wearied away. ¹¹Because of all my adversaries I am become a reproach, yes, unto my neighbors exceedingly, And a fear to my acquaintance: They that did see me without fled from me. ¹²I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel. ¹³For I have heard the defaming of many, Terror on every side: While they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life. ¹⁴But I trusted in you, O Jehovah: I said, you are my God. ¹⁵My times are in your hand: Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from them that persecute me. ¹⁶Make your face to shine upon your servant: Save me in your lovingkindness. ¹⁷Let me not be put to shame, O Jehovah; For I have called upon you: Let the wicked be put to shame, let them be silent in Sheol. ¹⁸Let the lying lips be dumb, Which speak against the righteous insolently, With pride and contempt.

¹⁹Oh how great is your goodness, Which you have laid up for them that fear you, Which you have worked for them that take refuge in you, Before the sons of men! ²⁰In the covert of your presence will you hide them from the plottings of man: you will keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. ²¹Blessed be Jehovah; For he has showed me his marvelous lovingkindness in a strong city. ²²As for me, I said in my hurry, I am cut off from before your eyes: Nevertheless you heard the voice of my supplications When I cried unto you. ²³Oh love Jehovah, all you his saints: Jehovah preserves the faithful, And abundantly rewards him that deals proudly. ²⁴Be strong, and let your heart take courage, All you that hope in Jehovah.

Psalm 32

¹Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. ²Blessed is the man unto whom Jehovah imputes not iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no guile. ³When I kept silence, my bones wearied away Through my groaning all the day long. ⁴For day and night your hand was heavy upon me: My moisture was changed as with the drought of summer. Selah ⁵I acknowledged my sin unto you, And my iniquity did I not hide: I said, I will confess my transgressions unto Jehovah; And you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah ⁶For this let every one that is godly pray unto you in a time when you may be found: Surely when the great waters overflow they shall not reach unto him.

⁷you are my hiding-place; you will preserve me from trouble; you will compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah ⁸I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go: I will counsel you with my eye upon you. ⁹Be not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding; Whose trappings must be a bit and bridle to hold them in, Else they will not come near unto you. ¹⁰Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he that trusts in Jehovah, lovingkindness shall compass him about. ¹¹Be glad in Jehovah, and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you that are upright in heart.

Psalm 33

¹Rejoice in Jehovah, O you righteous: Praise is becoming for the upright. ²Give thanks unto Jehovah with the harp: Sing praises unto him with the psaltery of ten strings. ³Sing unto him a new song; Play skillfully with a loud noise. ⁴For the word of Jehovah is right; And all his work is
