KAY CRISSMAN ASIALA

After high school, I lived in Grand Rapids--worked for a newspaper and an insurance company and attended Davenport Business School. Moved back to Mesick to take a job at the school as secretary/bookkeeper in January 1955.

Met my Husband (Dick) through the home economics teacher (Ann Gustafson from Kaleva) and married in 1958. In 1959, 1960, 1964, 1966 had four children (3 sons and 1 daughter). Lived in Mt. Pleasant, Hart, Onekama, Kaleva, Big Rapids and now in Traverse City where we have lived 21 years. We have 7+ grandchildren and enjoy them very much.

While in Big Rapids, I attended Farris State University for 3 years and have taken classes from CMU. Worked for an employment and training program which covers 10 counties as a job counselor and finally the last 10 years as the director of employment and training.

Left my job (July 1993) to share retirement and play golf with my husband of 36 years. Swim laps for fitness. Like to travel. Dick has a part time job with education and I do accounting which keeps us in touch with the outside world and learning more about computers.
